This is a huge deal for the type community world wide! The Chattanooga Times Free Press dedicated their front page to an article describing the design communities work to create a custom typeface for Chattanooga. Props to Kate Harrison and the TFP for making Chattanooga an even better place to be a designer. This kind of thing is only found in Cha.

East Lake is a neighborhood overflowing with storybook characters. On every street there are stories unfolding right before your eyes. We took our time walking the neighborhood to meet these people so that we could capture personal and meaningful video. We need your help! Our video is in a competition with other neighborhood associations for the best video so watch and vote!
When faced with pictures and video from Ringgold, Georgia, I can’t even begin to brag about living through the storms of April 27 a few miles over in Chattanooga where the most my neighborhood suffered was some downed trees and negligible power outages.
Still, this video moved me so very much. I’m struck by the story that starts at 1:15 - the disabled young woman who was somehow kept safe from the winds. The joy on her sister’s face at 1:50 is almost too much for me to bear. You don’t expect to see this kind of beauty coming out of a situation like this just two days afterward.
God works in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform.
My review of Blue Valentine was published in this week’s Pulse. It is easily one of my favorite films from 2010, but it was a particularly hard one for me to write about. In fact, I wrote most of this review by hand in the middle of the night while in bed. Taking advantage of those waking thoughts for once. My writing is hackneyed, but some say they like it; who knew?
(That was a rhetorical question, but I can’t get that pesky answer box to go away.)
A movie about Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl”, placed in the wrong hands, turns out to be desperately bad? Shocker. My review is up at The Pulse.
